Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have significantly increased rates of abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which has to be addressed for these cultures to survive. While the causes may differ from person to individual, the majority of of the factors for the high rates of alcohol and drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the U.S.. The most obvious hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug and alcohol addiction are cultural challenges and language. Due to this it is crucial that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Walloon Lake, Michigan obtain rehab treatment in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is understanding of their culture, and most importantly in a drug rehab program that understand the need to supply drug and alcohol rehab in their language.
