Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably increased rates of drug abuse and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an an issue which should be resolved for these people to survive. Although the causes may differ from person to individual, most of the reasons for the significantly higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. The most obvious hurdles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural challenges and language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Max, Minnesota obtain treatment services in a drug and alcohol treatment program that is understanding of their culture, but more importantly in a drug rehab program that understand the need to provide alcohol and drug rehabilitation in their language.
