Seniors and older adult persons in Lebanon are prone, if not predisposed, to alcohol and drug abuse just like any other individual. In fact, seniors and older adult persons are already typically on prescription drugs which can also be abused. When mixed with street drugs and alcohol, seniors and older adults are at risk of serious health effects including death. The negative stigmas which are connected to drug or alcohol addiction may keep some seniors and older adult persons out of the alcohol and drug rehab facilities in Lebanon that will help resolve their problem. Because of this, there are alcohol and drug treatment facilities which cater to this age group of the population. These alcohol and drug treatment programs understand the needs which are particular to this age group, and how to deal with drug or alcohol addiction among these clients. Because seniors and older adult persons are more prone to illness and accidents, it is imperative that they receive rehabilitation before any disease or accident results from their their addiction which can result in permanent if not fatal harm.
