Criminal justice clients are a large portion of clients who are currently taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs in Lebanon and in the USA. Court systems in the country often find it more advantageous to treat men and women who have found their way into the court system for drug related crimes, rather than punishing them in vain with jail time and other penalties. It is proven to be more successful to handle the issue of drug or alcohol addiction directly, than to enforce such penalties. The majority of individuals who do not make their way to drug and alcohol treatment will frequently turn right back up in the criminal justice system, whilst criminal justice clients in alcohol and drug rehab often don't make the same mistakes and have a far better chance at remaining sober and away from the court system entirely.
