Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a situation which must be resolved for these cultures to survive. While the causes may vary from individual to person, many of the causes for the significantly higher rates of substance abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the country. The most evident obstacles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural challenges and language. For this reason it is vital that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Jber receive treatment services in a drug rehab program that is understanding of their culture, and most importantly in a drug rehab that takes into the account the need to supply alcohol and drug rehabilitation in their native tongue.
