Individuals may become addicted to alcohol or drugs despite a handicap or particular physical issue. This at times makes persons significantly more susceptible to getting involved in alcohol or drug addiction, due to the various problems that may pop up in the individual's life. This is true for people in the deaf and hearing impaired community also, and treatment for alcohol and drug abuse problems is often necessary. Deaf or hearing impaired persons will require ASL or other assistance as part of their drug rehab needs, and there are alcohol and drug treatment programs available throughout the Ely area which cater to these needs.
