Treating men and women who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and have found their way into the criminal justice system has proven to be effective in preventing future drug related criminal offenses for people that do become rehabilitated. For criminal justice clients in East Middlebury who do partake in alcohol and drug treatment centers, even un-voluntarily as is occasionally ordered by the court, these clients have a much better chance at dealing with the crux of the problem so that they can stay abstinent and off of negative influences and [[[committing drug related criminal activity. The costs to society related to these drug related crimes is also impacted beneficially when criminal justice clients are helped in drug rehabilitation programs in East Middlebury instead of incarceration or other penalties.
