Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably increased rates of drug abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which should be aknowledged for these cultures to endure. While the things which trigger substance abuse may vary from individual to person, the majority of of the factors for the higher rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the U.S.. The most evident obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse are cultural differences and language. For this reason it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Chugiak obtain rehab treatment in a drug treatment facility that is culturally acceptable, and more importantly in a drug rehab that considers the need to offer drug treatment in their native tongue.
