Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have much very high rates of alcohol and drug abuse and alcohol and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an an issue which should be resolved for these cultures to survive. While the things which trigger substance abuse may differ from person to person, most of the factors for the high rates of substance abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives have to do with their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the U.S.. The most apparent barriers to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural challenges and their language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Glennallen, Alaska obtain rehab treatment in a drug rehab program that is culturally acceptable, and most importantly in one that considers the need to supply drug rehabilitation in their native tongue.
